Bio: Heather comes to the Beach Center from Texas. She began her career as an elementary general education classroom teacher. From the classroom she moved to the Reading department in a large, urban district in north Texas to serve as a coach and support other elementary general education and special education teachers in schools implementing a three-tiered model supporting all students. She then moved to the state level and supported that same district and many more schools as a Reading Technical Assistance Specialist for The University of Texas System Administration Institute for Public School Initiatives again implementing a multi-tiered system of support. Most recently she worked as the Project Coordinator for The Higher Education Collaborative at The University of Texas supporting general and special education faculty at over a hundred colleges, universities, and alternative certification programs in Texas infusing additional evidence based instruction for preservice teachers.

Interests:
Heather is studying under the RTI Leadership Preparation Program Fellowship. Her advisor is Dr. Wayne Sailor.
Heather came to the Beach Center to study Response to Intervention for Academics and Behavior. She is currently working on the K-I Center Tertiary Grant. Heather's other interests include System Change, Teacher Education, and Elementary Literacy.
