Bio:
After graduating from the University of Kansas, I became an elementary resource teacher in Overland Park, Kansas where I still remain currently. I have worked with students in grades kindergarten, first grade, second grade, and fifth grade who have developmental delays, learning disabilities, autism, and behavioral disorders. It was during the course of my teaching experience that I became very interested in appropriate and effective inclusion for students with disabilities and began looking for additional ways to create this type of environment for students.
Education:
BA, Elementary Education, University of Kansas, 2005
MS, Students Needing an Adaptive Curriculum, Special Education, University of Kansas, 2007
Interests:
I am particularly interested appropriate and effective inclusion for students with high incidence disabilities. Among effective inclusive teaching techniques, I am interested in co-teaching. I am also interested in the role that families can playing in shaping an inclusive education for their child with a disability.
